Nancy E. Kelly, RN, CPA, MST, CFE

Nancy Kelly started her accounting career at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Operational Services Division resolving reporting and compliance issues with providers who were recipients of state funding. She then moved to a national CPA firm where she specialized and built her reputation in working with the not-for-profit community. Ms. Kelly’s migration to the not-for-profit community was a natural outgrowth of her spending a decade in a major Boston metropolitan hospital as a Registered Nurse in the operating room.

She has also served on the Board in the capacity of Treasurer and President of many Boston and New York area not-for-profits with a special interest in arts organizations.  Ms. Kelly shares her expertise internally to other firm professionals through instructing classes. She has developed training materials for governmental auditing, HUD and single audits and is a frequent speaker at in-house seminars on topics related to government auditing standards, nonprofit and governmental auditing, HUD audits and the audits of employee benefit plans.

Nancy plans, coordinates and conducts audits of nonprofit organizations including: large social service organizations, third party funded organizations, educational institutions, charitable, and fundraising and membership organizations including those requiring audits pursuant to Uniform Guidance (Single Audit). Nancy performs audits of Massachusetts Uniform Financial Reports (UFR) and audits of pension plans (defined benefit and defined contribution). Nancy has led numerous training seminars for clients and professional staff on various topics relating to new accounting standards, governance, compliance, and financial reporting.

Nancy has deepened her expertise as an adjunct faculty of not-for-profit accounting at New York University (NYU). Nancy is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Registered Nurse. When Ms. Kelly is not auditing, she is an artist following the traditions of the masters by ongoing study in classical realism.
