The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development's  (HUD) Community Planning and Development Department hosted a training session on fraud. This session was led by Nancy Kelly, a Certified Fraud Examiner, and the NE Kelly & Associates, LLC team in Boston. Held on Monday, September, 29, 2014, the all-day seminar was titled, "Fraud: Prevention, Detection, Deterrence."
Nancy Kelly took the class of 20 HUD auditors, who are responsible for monitoring the sub-recipients of HUD funds, through an overview of typical schemes and motivations behind someone committing a fraud. A good portion of the training was centered on how to recognize the red flags that may indicate fraud within an organization and what to do when fraud is found.
Thank you to Laura Shiffer and Paul Connolly, from the HUD office in Boston, for inviting our firm to lead the training as well as for being gracious hosts to our staff.
